Birth Plans (for Parents) - KidsHealth
I am choosing to have a cesarean birth for my baby due to a number of very good personal reasons, but I've always felt ashamed to admit it as there is such a stigma surrounding elective cesareans as reserved for people who are "too posh to push" or simply too selfish and lazy to "do it properly". Having read this book I now feel far more satisfied that I have made the right choice for the right reasons. Don't get me wrong, this book certainly doesn't present cesarean birth as the perfect option for all women, but it gives a far more open-minded and balanced view of a woman's options than most birth books, and all of the chapters are written by professionals and based on scientific research.

It does a great job of blowing many old wives' tales about childbirth out of the water, allowing women to make a balanced and informed decision about how they want to give birth. I would recommend it to all women who are considering their options with childbirth, whether they want a cesarean or not, as I really think it would put many women's minds at rest who are worried about the risks of having an emergency C-section as well as being a much-needed reassurance for those who are considering an elective one.

In the end I opted for an elective section and this book was a deciding factor. The chapter on the Politics of Birth was incredibly interesting and was too true. There shouldn't be any shame in making the decision to have a section if that's something you want to consider. This is a fab book!
As someone who wants an elective c-section, this book has given a truthful insight into what is involved with this major surgery, plus how to get the best out of it! Very glad I read it! This book gives a balanced view of the pros and cons of caesareans and natural birth. Informing about many conditions that are often avoided when risks are spoken about in hospitals.
The emphasis is that you choose your method of birthing based the negative outcomes that you want to avoid the most and this would be different for each woman. This is not a book that promotes caesareans. It is a book that promotes informed choice and women's autonomy.click here
Choosing Cesarean: A Natural Birth Plan
An excellent book that ensures that you are fully informed. Used for a project in college! Very informative, give it a read if you're interested in this kind of information. Its credible and helped me get an A in my A Levels. Very informative and confirming for mothers having elective c sections.
Eased my worries and educated me on my surgery. One person found this helpful. Very informative book about c-section and vaginal birth. I particularly liked the honesty of this book and the cultural, scientific and personal journey sharing light on the fact that women are still denied to this day the access to all the necessary information to make an informed choice around child birth.
This book has given me a wealth of information relating to birth choice for women. It dispels some of the myths surrounding cesarean births and has given me the confidence to go for the birth that I want. It holds extensive reference to data and research but also opinions and thoughts from those,i.
